Before coming to my actual topic about MBA Subjects Punjab University IBA, I would like to give little bit introduction about word ‘MBA’. The word MBA stands for ‘Master of Business Administration’. It is a graduate degree program, designed a way to prepare the students for the business field. Realizing the importance of Business study, Punjab University developed a separate institute for business education and named as ‘Institute of Business Administration (IBA)’ in 1994.  In 1927 is was just a department, it took great milestone to transform a department into an institute later. IBA has continuously improved by adequate selection of courses according to international educational standards. Now the institute has its own worth and has been ranked on 2nd Position in the list of the institutes that taught Business Administration Studies all over the Pakistan. The Institute was lifted to its current building in 1994.

Over the years, IBA has produced national and international reputation for its teaching and research techniques. Uninterrupted improvement of courses helps the Institute to forestall and reflect business tendencies.

MBA Subjects Punjab University and Types

Punjab University Institute of Business Administration (IBA) has categorized the MBA program into three basic types, which are:

  • MBA (Three and Half Year/3.5 Year)
  • MBA (One and Half Year/1.5 Year)
  • MBA (Evening)

All of these have their own specifications and criteria regarding admission eligibilities and courses selection. Let’s have a deep loop to each of above mentioned program one by one.

1. MBA (Three and Half Year/3.5 Year)

For the better understanding of my readers I am going to break my work in differ bullet points so you can easily understand.

  • MBA (3.5 Year) is Equivalent to M.S./M.Phil.
  • MBA (3.5 Year) is Eligible for Candidates having 14 Years of Education in any disciplined or have Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc./B.Com./ B.A.) from HEC recognized institutions.
  • Academic Record required 70%, which is determined by 1/4 of total marks obtained in Matric/O Level. Plus 1/5 of total marks obtained in Intermediate/A Level, plus total marks obtained in B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./equivalent.
  • Additional 20 marks for Hafiz-e-Quran, 20 marks from elective subjects (Mathematics, Statistics, and Economics) studied in graduation level.
  • Entry Test required 30% (Academic Record 70% + Entry Test 30%), in which candidate required minimum 40% to Pass.
  • Total Number of Seats are 60 Students (20 Seats for Bachelor Students).
  • MBA 3.5 year’s program comprises 96 Total Credit Hours of coursework and dissertation to be completed in three and a half years. The total of 90 Credit Hours are to be earned by successfully completing the course work. The remaining 6 Credit Hours are need be received by writing and successfully defending a Thesis (Here is an option of taking 2 Courses of 3 Credit Hours each as an alternative in the 7th Semester). The students who will take dissertation are likely to complete their MBA in 3.5 years.
  • Total Semesters are 7. Each semester will spread over 18 Weeks.
