1. Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO)

Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) supplies electricity to about 3.62 customers under the Distribution License that is granted by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). FESCO has the different departments like planning department, call center, grid station, finance dashboard, material management and stock inventory system. The service areas of FESCO are Faisalabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Jhang, Bhakker, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot districts.

2. Hub Power Company

Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO) is situated in Hub, Lasbela District, Baluchistan, Pakistan. This company is the large private sector power company. Four oil fired units generate the electricity and these units are of 323 megawatt and supplies the electricity by 78 km long pipeline from Pakistan State Oil. This oil burns in large boilers and steam produces that generate electricity.

3. Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO)

Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority formed a company to take over all the properties, assets and liabilities of Hyderabad Area Electricity Board and the name of the company is Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO). In 1998, this company was incorporated and obtained the certificate for commencement of business from NEPRA under the section 146(2) of Companies Ordinance.

In 1981, there came amendments in WAPDA act and Area Electricity Board was established. Later, twelve companies were approved by Government of Pakistan, eight supply companies (DISCOs), one National Transmission and Distribution Company (NTDC) and three Generation Companies GENCOs and these companies have been incorporated under the Companies Ordinance 1984. In 1998, IESCO was also incorporated. The main responsibility of this company is to take over the rights and properties of Pakistan.

K- Electric is the name of Karachi Electric Supply Company Limited. As everyone know Karachi is the city of lights and this company generates, transmits and distributes electricity to about 20 million inhabitants of Karachi. About 11,000 employees work in this company and it works for the 6,500 square kilometer commercial, industrial, agricultural and residential area of Karachi. K- Electric has been privatized by Government in 2005. In September 2008, this company was renamed as Karachi Electric Supply Corporation.

7. Kot Addu Power Company

Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) built the Kot Addu Power Plant in District Muzaffargarh, Punjab. It was built in between 1985 and 1996. This company was incorporated as a public limited company in April 1996.

8. Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO)

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) is an electric supply company that supplies electricity to Lahore Pakistan. LESCO is the responsible to operate in the areas of Civil District of Lahore, Kasur, Okara and Sheikhupura. This company comprises of seven Operation Circles, that are North Lahore Circle, Central Lahore Circle, Eastern Lahore Circle, Okara Circle, South-Eastern LHR Circle, Sheikhupura Circle and Kasur Circle.


9. Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO)

Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) is the largest and public limited company of PEPCO that is appointed by law. This company was established to provide the supply of electricity to the customers. About 13 districts of south Punjab are the operational areas of MEPCO. MEPCO is the only appointed company that deals with three provinces and five companies of Pakistan HESCO at Sadiqabad, PESCO at Vahova, QESCO at Fort Manro, FESCO at Bhakkar and LESCO at Sahiwal. This company also control the area of border of India at Minchinabad.

TESCO has been launched on August 5, 2004. Pakistani power system is moving to privatization from monopoly. TESCO Tribal Electric Supply Company has become the biggest distribution company of WAPDA. The Seven Agencies and related FR is its area of operation that are situated along Afghanistan country. The names of the seven agencies are Orakzai Agency, Kurram Agency, Khyber Agency, North Waziristan Agency, South Waziristan Agency, Bajur Agency, Mohmand Agency and FRs are FR Peshawar, FR Kohat, FR Bannu, FR Lakki, FR Dera Ismail Khan and FR Tank.  It supplies the electricity to the tribal areas of Pakistan and is the only company that works for these tribal areas.

12. Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA)

The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) was establish in 1958. It is maintaining water and power in Pakistan. This is a public utility from Government. WAPDA does not manage thermal power. The Headquarters of WAPDA are in Lahore and its resources are Mangla and Tarbela dams. WAPDA is working very hard to support the hydropower resources in Pakistan.
